All Under Bank: Roswell King, Jr. and Plantation Management in Tidewater Georgia (by Buddy Sullivan)
Buddy Sullivan, the well known tidewater Georgia historian, here edits and annotates the plantation journal and daybook of Roswell King, Jr., who managed the rice and cotton plantations of Pierce Butler and his own plantations from 1819 to 1854. Sullivan’s introduction to the journal is particularly valuable to set King’s work in context. Pierce Butler, of course, is known for his part in “The Weeping Time,” the largest sale of enslaved African Americans in U.S. history. Contains a detailed index and informative footnotes.
