Cornelia Walker Bailey, who passed away in 2017, tells her story of growing up on Sapelo Island as a member of the African American Geechee people, who have a rich, unique culture with strong African roots due to their relative isolation. Bailey recounts both her own family story and provides a fascinating window into a vanishing way of life.
