God, Dr. Buzzard, and the Bolito Man: A Saltwater Geechee Talks About Life on Sapelo Island, Georgia (by Cornelia Walker Bailey)
Cornelia Walker Bailey, who passed away in 2017, tells her story of growing up on Sapelo Island as a member of the African American Geechee people, who have a rich, unique culture with strong African roots due to their relative isolation. Bailey recounts both her own family story and provides a fascinating window into a vanishing way of life.
